Exploring BUKIDNON’s Communal Ranch: The Only State-Owned Ranch in the Philippines

One of the amazing views that can be seen in Communal Ranch!

Are you a fan of Angel Locsin or Piolo Pascual, two of the brightest and most recognizable stars of the Philippine? If yes, then maybe you’re familiar with our featured travel spot for this blog: the Communal Ranch of Impasug-ong in the province of Bukidnon. Locsin and Pascual starred in the Star Cinema movie called “Love Me Again,” which featured this vast green fields of grass and trees surrounded by beautiful mountains. Did I forget to mention the horses? Oh, they’re also the star of the place, because people go and visit the ranch so they can experience riding the horses here.

FEELING HACIENDERO. The best thing to do here in Communal Ranch is ride one of their horses! Going here would honestly feel incomplete if you haven’t tried riding around the area.

How to go to Communal Ranch?

Communal Ranch is located in the municipality of Impasug-ong in Bukidnon. The nearest airport in Bukidnon is Laguindingan Airport in Cagayan de Oro (CDO), and you’d have to ride the van and/or the bus to go here.

  1. When you exit the airport of Laguindingan, find a van going to Agora Terminal in its designated parking area. One-way fare is P199, and it’s much cheaper than riding the taxi.
  2. Upon arriving in Agora Terminal, you have two choices: ride the van or ride the bus. If you want to reach Impasug-ong relatively faster, go for the van. Look for a van going to Malaybalay/ Valencia because it’s going to pass through Impasug-ong. If you decide to ride the bus, look for a bus going to Davao because it will also pass through Impasug-ong.
  3. Ask the driver to drop you off at Impasug-ong Tourism Center. Proceed to their office to pay P20 for entrance fee and secure a permit to go to Communal Ranch.
  4. Rent habal-habal that will take you to the Communal Ranch. One-way fare is P200.
  5. Enter the Communal Ranch and explore its premises. Most importantly, enjoy!

Reminders:

  1. You may message Impasug-ong Tourism Office ahead of time to make sure the Communal Ranch is open on the date you’re planning to visit. Their contact number is 0965-673-558.
  2. The best time to go here is on a weekday morning! But don’t worry if your schedule doesn’t permit you to do that. You can still definitely enjoy the ranch during the weekends, though expect a lot of people visiting the place.
  3. It often rains in the late afternoon, so better to go here at least before lunchtime. Not only will you have enough time to explore the place, you won’t also have a hard time riding the habal-habal when you pass through the underdeveloped road going to the ranch, which is expected to be very muddy when wet. Besides, the ranch closes at 5 pm.

What to do in Communal Ranch?

Top view of the manmade lake in Communal Ranch!
  • Explore the area, from the man-made lake to the surrounding grassland.

Walk along the fields, sit under the shade, try out the cafeteria, talk to the cowboys of the ranch. These are some of the things you can do to get a good idea of what the ranch is about.

HORSE-BACK RIDING! Definitely one of the best things to do here in riding the horse with your family and friends. Here’s a picture of me and Ge trying it out here on the ranch!
  • Do horseback riding!

If there’s one thing that I really appreciate in Communal Ranch, it’s trying horseback riding for the first time! I think I’ve enjoyed the trip here the most because I got to explore the area riding a horse while witnessing such beautiful views. This activity is actually what would give you the feeling of truly being in a ranch, and I felt like a haciendero even for a short while. Haha!

AERIAL VIEW. This is the view from up above! Taken from a drone shot, this picture shows some of the mountain ranges that made Impasug-ong popular.
  • Appreciate the view.

Bring your camera with you and take lots of pictures! If you have a drone, you may use it as well. Going here and making memories are really worth it, I’m telling you.

AWESOME BACKGROUND, isn’t it? While I have wanted to visit the ranch during a weekday when there’s certainly fewer people, we just made it work to capture photos without the crowd!
  • Just breathe and relax.

If you really went here to just rest and relax, you’re most welcome to do so. Being away from the hustles and bustles of the city just to breathe is a great thing. Gotta make the most of it.

Now let me share some more of the pictures we’ve taken in Communal Ranch. I hope I get to convince you to put this place in your list of must-see visits. Comment below if you like what you have read here. Thanks in advance!
